Human Resources Information System (HRIS) Manager Job Summary
The Human Resources Information System (HRIS) Manager role is an integral part of the information team ensuring the effective use of Workday KIPP DCs HRIS as a system administrator on the info team supporting the broader HR and overall talent team. The starting salary range for this role is $78436-$85256. This is a full-time hybrid flexibility role based at HDQ with an anticipated March 2026 start date.

About the RoleThe HRIS Manager will serve as a systems administrator for Workday KIPP DCs HRIS and will use this expertise to improve how Workday is being utilized to increase the efficiency of the HR addition the HRIS Manager will compile and analyze data for staffing initiatives such as teacher retention. This exempt role will report to the Director of Enterprise Systems. Location and Type of WorkThis is an exempt position and will report to the Director of Enterprise Systems.As a headquarters team that is focused on being responsive to our schools and meeting the needs of our students and families we approach our work in a way that reflects these priorities. This position will generally work independently and not regularly interface with students families or school teams. This position will primarily work from our headquarters office to maintain a connection to their colleagues and foster a sense of cross-functional collaboration. Because of the nature of this positions work this role allows for hybrid flexibility and will be required to be onsite 3 days per week.ResponsibilitiesThe percentages for each key responsibility are estimates and other duties may be assigned. Flexibility and responsiveness are encouraged to accommodate organizational needs.System and Report Administration (35% of time)
- Serve as the main point of contact for the maintenance troubleshooting design and implementation of Workday for the HR and broader talent team including (but not limited to):
- Configuring Workday security groups and business processes to reflect standard operating procedures
- Completing audits to ensure human capital data is accurate for our payroll and finance teams and updating fields when necessary
- Creating automated tasks and reports that provide our internal and external stakeholders with timely information
- Collaborate with the talent information payroll and finance teams to explore additional functionality within Workday to optimize its use for the HR and talent teams
- Work with the payroll and finance teams to ensure upkeep and accuracy of critical business processes like position management and mid-year hire updates
- Contribute to the Workday steering committee with insights and best practices
- Support payroll and finance in budget tracking and management within Workday
- Support the performance review process by coordinating setup testing auditing and reporting in Workday
- Support other systems such as our custom staffing tool and other talent-specific software as needed
Data Governance & Integrity (35% of time)
- Conduct robust data analysis to help drive HR and broader talent priorities including:
- Retention and attrition of our school based staff including any sub-team analysis at the grade band level and our yearly intent-to-return survey
- Equity analysis towards our DEI goals across various compensation-related initiatives including staff salaries and additional payments
- Serve as the point of contact in managing the completion of external employee data reportings such as the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) Staffing and Faculty Report and semi-annual The New Teacher Project (TNTP) Roster submission via KIPP Foundation and other reports as needed
- Conduct regular audits and reconciliations of talent-related data within Workday to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Support presentations on data reportings
Project & Change Management(30% of time)
- Provide project support and coordinate mission critical milestones on various talent initiatives including (but not limited to):
- Returning offer letter coordination for all KIPP DC staff members
- Open enrollment and benefits
- Collaborate with talent and budget teams to maintain and audit KIPP DCs position control within the Workday and the staffing app to ensure data integrity and accurate headcount tracking
- Participate in change management activities for future Workday releases ensuring stakeholders are informed and prepared
- Support continuous improvement by incorporating user feedback vendor updates and emerging best practices into project planning
Requirements & PreferencesRequired Qualifications
- Bachelors degree (Human Resources Information Systems or a related field preferred) with at least two years of experience in systems administration and/or reporting ERP configuration or business systems analysis
- OR at least four years of experience in systems administration and/or reporting ERP configuration or business systems analysis
- Familiarity with creating data sets using data sets to generate reports and analyses and using Excel/Google Sheets to compile and present data to stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a Workday HRIS administrator
