Position Summary
The Nurse Manager of Emergency Services is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of patient care and operational oversight within the Emergency Department. This role manages departmental staff supports clinical operations collaborates closely with medical staff and ensures high-quality patient-centered care in alignment with organizational policies and regulatory standards. The Nurse Manager also serves as a clinical and community resource for emergency services.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and oversight for Emergency Department operations during the assigned shift
Participate in departmental and organizational committees and ensure staff engagement where appropriate
Assess staffing needs and assist with the development and implementation of staff education and development programs
Collaborate with department leadership to develop and manage staff schedules
Provide direct supervision of staff including performance evaluations conflict resolution and disciplinary actions in accordance with personnel policies
Communicate unit and staffing issues to department leadership in a timely and effective manner
Support onboarding and integration of new employees in collaboration with preceptors
Maintain strong clinical knowledge of emergency nursing practices equipment and policies
Ensure timely reporting and resolution of equipment repair and maintenance issues
Oversee completion of unit quality and safety checks including crash cart temperature logs and other department-specific indicators
Implement active case management to support efficient patient flow and care delivery
Assist with clinical procedures as needed
Collect analyze and utilize data to support decision-making and performance improvement initiatives
Qualifications
35 years of recent (within the last year) Emergency Department leadership experience in an acute care setting
Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma from an accredited institution required
Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
Active Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license required
Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification required within 30 days of hire
