Position Summary
The Departments of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) and Orthopaedics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are seeking a full time fellowship trained Sports Physiatrist to join our expanding clinical team. Rank will be based on qualifications and experience. This faculty position will provide high quality patient centered non interventional spine and musculoskeletal care within two premier clinical environments at the UNC Sports Medicine Institute and UNC Spine Center. As needed this faculty position may also be asked to provide some general physiatric care including inpatient consults. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in musculoskeletal and spine medicine a strong commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and a passion for advancing evidence-based care in sports and spine rehabilitation. They will participate in teaching research quality improvement and administrative activities associated with an academic appointment and related areas of expertise. Some acute inpatient rehabilitation call is required. The successful candidate will be board eligible/board certified in PM&R and fellowship trained in Sports Medicine. Clinical Responsibilities Spine Care ( UNC Spine Center) Provide comprehensive non interventional spine care to adult patients. Evaluate and treat disorders of the cervical thoracic and lumbar spine using evidence driven diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Apply advanced knowledge of spine biomechanics to guide patient recovery and functional restoration. Sports & Musculoskeletal Care ( UNC Sports Medicine Institute) Deliver general musculoskeletal evaluation and management for patients with sports related or activity limiting conditions. Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary colleagues including sports medicine physicians physical therapists athletic trainers and orthopaedic surgeons to coordinate care pathways. Interdisciplinary Collaboration Work closely with colleagues across PM&R and Orthopaedics with an emphasis on biomechanical spine rehabilitation and integrative therapeutics. Support team based approaches for chronic spine conditions joint dysfunction and movement related impairments.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills strong leadership abilities a record of interdisciplinary collaboration and have the desire to be involved in enhancing quality of patient care and participating in research studies. Specialty training in musculoskeletal and integrative medicine is preferred.
