Hospitalist program established in 1998
Full-time and part-time nocturnist positions available
Teaching opportunities of residents and medical students in internal medicine podiatry psychiatry and transitional year programs through the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
7 on / 7 off schedule; Hours: 7pm-7am
Average patient volume is 16 patients/day
Procedures are optional
Open ICU (with 24/7 intensivist support)
80 specialty areas of medicine including heart cancer womens children and newborns orthopedics brain and spine and transplantation

Job Description

Hospitalist privileges include the ability to admit diagnose evaluate diagnose treat and provide consultation to adolescent and adult patients with common and complex illnesses diseases and functional disorders of the circulatory respiratory endocrine metabolic musculoskeletal hematopoietic gastroenteric and genitourinary systems.

Qualifications

M.D. or D.O. degree.

Experience can be demonstrated in one of the following ways and should be reflective of the privileges being requested: An applicant who has just completed residency shall provide their residency procedure log and a list of completed rotations as applicable. OR An applicant who is not applying directly out of a residency shall provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the last 12 months to include number of procedures performed-morbidity mortality infection rates and other complications. The applicant must be able to demonstrate active involvement of inpatient services to be at least 40 patients in the last 12 months. OR If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges documentation of the applicants hospital activity for the last 12 months is required. The applicant must be able to demonstrate active involvement in the care of 40 patients in the hospital in the last 12 education and experience may be required the more advanced the practice becomes.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate successful completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited postgraduate training program in their specialty. These specialties may include internal medicine pediatrics family medicine critical care medicine an internal medicine subspecialty or internal medicine/ in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as applicable. Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their residency training within the last five years shall be eligible however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
