Major Responsibilities:

  • Perform intake assessment and care management for patients in a Sports Medicine out-patient clinical setting.
  • Triagefield questions and communicate self-carepreventionand treatment.
  • Communicate with physician and medical team todetermineneedfor further care special testing or services.
  • Assist in establishing a plan of care based on evaluation results health goals andappropriate techniques. Communicate plan of care to all parties involved in patients care. Monitor and evaluate outcomes and appropriately adjusttreatment plans based on response to treatment.
  • Complete anafter-visit summary including written homeexerciseprograms patient/family teaching referral for specialist community services and DME.
  • Recognizes potential issues and the need to advocate forpatientsby working with the physician and/or key professionals.
  • Identifyfactors affecting a patients physical and psychosocial comfort and attendto these needs. This will require the ability to work with a diverse patient population.
  • Complete required documentation following department policy - including assessments progress notes and after visit summaries asappropriateto record patient care.
  • Performs various patient positioningtransferringand transporting duties which require lifting and pushing/pulling whileutilizingproper technique.
  • Demonstrateknowledge and skills necessary to provide careappropriate tothe age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs. Must provide the care needed as described in the departments policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
  • Act as lead AT in coverage of a professional rugby team including pre-season screenings creation of emergency action planning providing sideline coverage for practices and games in-season to include on site evaluation and treatment plans while communicating and coordinating care with the physician and clinical staff.

Licensure Registration and/or Certification Required:

  • Current athletic training certification by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC).
  • Currently licensed or eligiblefor Athletic Trainer license issued by the state in which the teammate practiceswithin 30 days of hire.
  • Completion or ability to complete American Heart Association Healthcare Provider (BLS) which includes CPR and AED training within30 daysof hire.

Education Required:

  • Bachelors degree in athletic training from a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) program.
  • Immediate Care in Rugby Level 2 certification favorable not required

Experience Required:

  • Should have experience in evaluating caring for and managing rugby athletes in both the sideline and clinical environment.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Excellent communication skills to allow for proper relay of information between various settings: on-field training room and clinical.
  • Ability to understand and communicate medical terminology to patients in plain language and utilize teach-back to ensure full understanding.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Must be able to:

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
  • Lift up to 10 lbs. from waist to overhead.
  • Lift and carry up to 40 lbs. at waist height a reasonable distance.
  • Work in stressfulsituations
  • Tolerate frequent periods of extended standing and sitting
  • Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
  • Perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present to assist and transfer patients as needed
  • Frequently walk sit or stand for extended periods
  • Operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Perform fine manipulation for wound dressing stitch/staple removal casting/splinting etc.
  • Utilize PPE as necessary in the event of chemical blood or body fluid exposure

Must have

  • Ability toworkin an environment that varies from office to outside temperatures/environments.
  • Ability to travel - note: weather and road conditions do fluctuate throughout the year.
  • Functional use of senses to allow effectivecommunication.

Pay Range

$26.55 - $39.85

  • Performs various patient positioning transferring and transporting duties which require lifting and pushing/pulling while utilizing proper technique.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the departments policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
