Position Overview. Maumee Valley Country Day School seeks a collaborative and mission-
driven Head of Upper School to lead grades 9 through 12. Reporting to the Head of School
this senior leadership role provides academic and cultural leadership for the Upper School and
partners closely with faculty families and fellow administrators. The Head of Upper School will
play a central role in advancing academic excellence supporting student wellbeing and
strengthening a positive inclusive school culture.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for Upper School curriculum instruction and assessment
- Recruit supervise mentor and evaluate Upper School faculty and staff
- Foster a student-centered culture that prioritizes wellbeing engagement and belonging
- Partner with the Head of School and senior leadership on strategic planning and program
- development
- Oversee Upper School scheduling systems and day-to-day operations
- Serve as a visible and trusted leader for students families and faculty
- Collaborate across divisions to ensure continuity and strong transitions for students
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will:
- Bring significant leadership experience in an independent or comparable secondary school
- setting
- Demonstrate deep understanding of adolescent development and effective instructional
- practice
- Lead with integrity empathy and clear communication
- Value collaboration and shared leadership while maintaining high expectations
- Support faculty growth through feedback coaching and professional learning
- Demonstrate commitment to experiential global and interdisciplinary learning
- Align with MVCDSs mission and values
