The Multimedia Assistant provides support for student activities and events by assisting with asset capturing of photography and videography for various CSI events and carrying out the duties of this position a great deal of autonomy is exercised with final overview by the Marketing & Communications Coordinator. It is also important that the Multimedia Assistant works extremely closely with the Marketing & Communications Coordinator to ensure that they are up to date on the overall tech and video support for CSIs all activities it is crucial that the Multimedia Assistant recognizes that service to students is a top priority.
You will learn to:
- Operate industry-standard production equipment in studio and on location to create television video and/or web content for multiple platforms
- Plan prepare and deliver video and digital or web content via multiple platforms in formats that meet current broadcast industry standards
- Use a variety of post-production skills and techniques to enhance and complete television digital web and/or video productions
- Participate in marketing activities to promote production of advertisements press releases and promotional materials
DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES
- Capture and edit video footage to promote CSIs services and activities
- Travel to destinations to capture footage using CSI equipment to capture footage for use in productions
- File management ensure items captured are catalogued and archived appropriately
- Edit footage and sound for video projects ensuring video and sound are AODA compliant and optimized for online distribution
- Support CSI programs like Trivia Tuesday Live Music Thursday and recurring large-scale concert productions with all live sound technical and production needs
- Provide necessary assets to the Marketing & Communications Coordinator for production of advertisements press releases and promotional materials
- Ensure that production efforts support the maximum potential for event execution and meet the current needs of students
- Assist with the day-to-day event production needs
- General AV support for Conestoga Students Inc. - maintain the audio and visual equipment ensuring it is operational and kept in a secure space
Other General Duties
- Work in accordance with corporate by-laws policies and procedures particularly with the CSI Mission Statement
- Adhere strictly to health & safety laws policies and procedures
- Maintain confidentiality for business practices
- Work in an organized manner where detail accuracy and confidentiality are critical
- Mandatory attendance at CSI related training days
- Other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands
- This position may require long hours of sitting and using office equipment and computers which can cause muscle strain. Long periods of standing and walking may be required for setting up running and tearing down events and activities. Lifting of supplies and materials up to 30lbs is required from time to time.
Environmental Conditions
- This position performs work from a suitable location of their choosing and may be faced with frequent interruptions and meetings with others on a regular basis. Travel between campuses and performance of work from home is required as needed. Some work may be required after office hours and on weekends.
Sensory Demands
- This position requires long periods of intense concentration. The incumbent may also spend long hours on the computer which requires visual focus attention to detail and high levels of accuracy. This position may also be exposed to loud noises and bright lights.
Mental Demands
- This position is expected to manage and meet multiple competing deadlines which can cause significant stress. The incumbent also deals with a wide variety of people on various issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be enrolled in a full-time program at Conestoga College and be a fee-paying student
- Preference will be given to those in a program related to multimedia production (e.g. Broadcasting Television and Independent Production Broadcasting Performance & Digital Media etc.)
- Candidates must also be able to demonstrate the following:
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Premier Pro After Effects and Audition)
- Strong working knowledge of video and photographic cameras
- Ability to balance multiple competing priorities while maintaining quality of work and meeting deadlines
- Consistent and reliable access to a stable internet connection
STUDENT ELIGIBILITY
All students in this position must:
- Be in a full-time degree diploma or certificate program at Conestoga College
- Maintain a full-time course load. Part-time studies may be allowed for students who are registered with Accessibility Services and require a reduced load
- For Spring term positions (May to August) students must be returning to full-time studies in the Fall term to be eligible.
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number
International students must also:
- Hold a valid Canadian study permit that allows on-campus employment
- Adhere to all requirements stated on their study permit
- Adhere to all Canadian student visa requirements
