Job Description

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Senior Advisor to the President who serves as Principal Investigator the Project Director for NJ250 Montclair State Universitys U.S. Department of Education American Civics and History Education National Activities - Seminars grant is responsible for overseeing and implementing all facets of the NJ250 initiativea grant-funded program designed to support educational engagement and statewide collaboration in celebration of the nations 250th anniversary. The Project Director ensures alignment with U.S.

Department of Education requirements and Montclair State Universitys institutional goals and serves as a liaison to various internal and external stakeholders. This role provides leadership in executing project objectives fiscal oversight program evaluation and continuous monitoring to ensure the success and sustainability of the initiative. This position is grant-funded and contingent upon the availability of funds. Continuation of employment is subject to annual performance review and the renewal of grant funding for a maximum of three (3) years.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides strategic leadership and daily oversight of the NJ250 grant in accordance with Department of Education guidelines.

  • Monitors and supports project activities as executed by project activity directors.

  • Works closely with the co-Principal Investigators and the external evaluator to implement the comprehensive project evaluation plan.

  • Oversees all fiscal aspects of the project including development of the budget expenditure monitoring and compliance reporting.

  • Ensures the timely preparation and submission of fiscal technical and performance reports to both the University and the U.S. Department of Education.

  • Authorizes project expenditures and maintains budgetary controls to ensure funds are appropriately utilized in support of project objectives.

  • Ensures accurate documentation of grant-related data including fiscal records student participation and program outcomes.

  • Supports the institutionalization of successful project practices and collaborates with academic departments to promote sustainability.

  • Coordinates promotional materials about the project with University Communications and Marketing.

  • Develops and maintains program documentation.

  • Utilizes Workday and other systems to onboard staff procure services track time and leave and manage grant-related operations.

  • Participates in relevant University committees and initiatives related to project objectives.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time.

QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in education or a related field.

  • Minimum of four years of professional experience in higher education preferably in academic affairs or project management at a university.

  • Experience working with a variety of stakeholder groups.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities meet deadlines and work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills both written and verbal.

  • Proficiency in Google suite Zoom Canvas and other relevant administrative tools.

  • Familiarity with project management reporting and budgetary processes.

PREFERRED:

  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university in education or a related field.

  • Previous experience with federal grant administration particularly U.S. Department of Education grants.

  • Experience with institutional data systems and electronic procurement platforms.

  • Knowledge of federal compliance and reporting procedures related to grant programs.

Salary Range

$85000.00-$95000.00 Annually
