Job Summary

Description

Responsible for provision and technical function of anesthesia machines ventilators monitoring equipment fluid warmers patient warming systems and other types of anesthesia equipment that may be age specific. Responsible for provision and stocking of supplies for anesthesia administration cleaning and disinfecting of equipment (such as fiberoptic bronchoscopes) as well as troubleshooting various types of anesthesia equipment.



Responsibilities
  1. Perform all duties of Certified Anesthesia Technician II (**)
  2. Check troubleshoot and resolve issues relating to worklist connections and ultrasounds studies transmitting to SYNGO (site specific responsibility)
  3. Weekly Philips machine maintenance checks including but not limited to hard-drive status patient studies and filter cleaning (**) (site specific responsibility)
  4. Room Preparations and Cleaning
    1. Ensure anesthesia machine and equipment are properly turned over between cases following departmental rules and Infection Prevention Protocols
    2. Terminal cleaning of anesthesia machine at the End of Day
    3. Terminal cleaning of all anesthesia equipment at End of Day and ensure they are ready for use
    4. Must be able to follow proper protocols with regards to PPE preparation for the cleaning of Contact Rooms
    5. Ensure workrooms are kept in a clean and orderly fashion
  5. Anesthesia Supply Handling
    1. Responsible for moving supplies to and from Stat Stores as needed(site specific responsibility)
    2. Stocking central workrooms supplies from U-Boats (site specific responsibility)
    3. Stocking supply carts in the ORs between cases and End of Day
    4. Checking and stocking anesthesia machine drawers between cases and at End of Day
    5. Checking anesthesia medications for expiration dates (site specific responsibility)
    6. Checking anesthesia supplies for expiration dates in ORs and workrooms
    7. Checking and restocking equipment supplies daily as needed
    8. Replace medications labels as needed in the OR setting
    9. Inform supervisor of supply issues in workrooms
  6. Anesthesia Technical Duties
    1. Perform daily calibrations and pre-procedure checklists on anesthesia machines
    2. Deliver and set up fiberoptic scopes and towers in OR as needed
    3. Setup TEE (Trans-Esophageal Echocardiography) probes and machines in the OR
    4. Primary troubleshooting of equipment not limited to machine circuit leaks flow sensor issues probe and scopes issues equipment connections and issues with acquiring vitals from patient monitor
    5. Recognizing and appropriately managing all anesthesia equipment
    6. Assemble and disassemble anesthesia machine connections for movement to all floors and areas as needed
  7. Procedural Equipment Handling Cleaning and Transport
    1. Pick-up transport and distribute clean scopes from SPD (Sterile Processing Department) to all areas
    2. Pre-clean scopes using appropriate enzymatic sponges and Infection Prevention procedures
    3. Pre-clean TEE probes using red enzymatic sponge and prepare for transport to SPD
    4. Transport dirty probes and scopes following protocol outlined by Infection Prevention and department protocols
    5. High-Level disinfect ultrasound probes using Trophon machine following Infection Prevention protocols
  8. Perform other related duties
    1. Maintain knowledge of equipment and protocols
    2. Checking and maintain intubation boxes and emergency airways carts
    3. Other tasks and as needed or required
  9. Perform all duties of Senior Anesthesia Support Technician (See Job Descriptions)
  10. Familiar with High Acuity areas not limited to Cardiac Liver transplant and outlying areas
  11. Secondary level troubleshooting including but not limited to EPIC Neuron and other anesthesia peripheral equipment


Qualifications

-High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

-2 to 4 years as Certified Anesthesia Technician II.

-Active ASATT Anesthesia Technician Certification.

Completion of AHA AED Heartsaver Certification within six (6) months of employment.

  • Continued certification is needed for employment.

-Basic MS Office Suite skills required.

-Technical skills necessary to perform duties.

-Proficiency in all departmental computer systems and databases.

-Good oral and written communication skills.

-Good interpersonal skills.

-Speaks reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.
