Job Title: Business Development Manager Utilities Brazil
Reporting Line: Reports directly to: Business Development & Sales Director Utilities Brazil
Role Purpose:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying developing structuring tendering negotiating and closing power generation and hybrid energy solutions in Brazil.
The role covers both public and private opportunities including regulated utilities independent power producers data center developers/operators and agro-industrial customers seeking reliable cost-efficient and lower-carbon energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Market Development & Opportunity Origination
1.a Identify and qualify new opportunities within:
Utilities (regulated and non-regulated markets)
Data Centers (temporary permanent and hybrid energy solutions)
Agro-energy applications including: (i)
Hybrid power for irrigation (diesel/solar/BESS); (ii)
Biogas-to-power and hybridization with existing assets.
1.b Build and maintain a structured opportunity pipeline aligned with strategic priorities.
1.c Develop strong relationships with:
Utilities developers EPCs data center operators and agro-industrial groups
Regulators consultants and strategic partners where applicable
2. Sales & Tendering Leadership
2.a Lead the end-to-end tendering process including: RFI RFQ RFP public tenders and bilateral negotiations
2.b Coordination of inputs from engineering operations finance tax legal and supply chain
2.c Ensure commercial proposals are:
Technically compliant
Financially robust (risk-adjusted returns contract bankability)
Aligned with Aggrekos risk governance and investment criteria
2.d Prepare and present commercial proposals to internal approval committees.
3. Commercial Structuring & Negotiation
3.a Structure commercial models including:
Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS)
Capacity and availability-based contracts
Hybrid and multi-technology solutions
3.b Lead negotiations with customers and partners including: Pricing indexation risk allocation SLAs guarantees and contract duration
3.c Support contract finalization through to financial close and handover to execution teams.
4. Strategic & Cross-Functional Coordination
4.a Act as the commercial interface between customers and internal teams.
4.b Contribute to:
Market strategy definition
Product positioning for hybrid BESS and low-carbon solutions
Continuous improvement of tendering and sales processes
4.c Provide structured market feedback to senior management.
Key Markets & Applications (Scope)
Utilities: regulated and non-regulated power generation reserve capacity isolated systems hybridization projects
Data Centers: prime power backup hybrid microgrids energy security solutions
Agro-energy: Irrigation power solutions (hybrid microgrids) Biogas-based generation and hybrid systems
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelors degree in Engineering Economics Business Administration or related fields
- 712 years of experience in:
- Business Development Sales or Commercial roles in power generation or energy infrastructure
- Proven experience with:
Complex tenders and long-term contracts
Negotiation with senior-level stakeholders
Cross-functional coordination in matrix organizations
- Strong understanding of:
Brazilian power sector (regulatory commercial and contractual frameworks)
Hybrid generation concepts (thermal solar BESS biogas)
Fluent Portuguese and English (Spanish desirable)
