Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Finance Co-op Student to join our team this fall term. If youre ready to dive into a sea of opportunities and tackle hands-on experience in finance this role is for you! With a focus on internal audit and corporate finance the position is ideal for students in their 3rd or 4th year of university or college or those who have recently graduated. You will have the chance to work on diverse projects collaborate with internal business partners and support various finance initiatives ensuring you gain valuable skills and experience while working in a fast-paced and innovative environment.
Essential Duties and responsibilities:
- Internal Audit Support:
- Assist the internal audit team in conducting audits and reviews of financial processes and controls.
- Prepare and analyze audit documentation and reports.
- Identify and communicate findings and recommendations for process improvements.
- Corporate Finance:
- Support the corporate finance team with journal entries and general ledger maintenance.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Conduct data analysis and spreadsheet analysis to support financial decision-making.
- Reconciliations and Tax Compliance:
- Perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Assist in tax compliance activities including the preparation and filing of tax returns.
- Support the maintenance of tax records and documentation.
- Data Management:
- Collect organize and maintain financial data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Utilize Excel and other financial software to analyze and report on financial performance.
- Cross-Departmental Exposure:
- Gain exposure to various departments and understand their financial processes and needs.
- Collaborate with different teams to gather information and support financial initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Co-op Student enrolled in Finance Accounting Business or related program.
- Excellent people skills with the ability to work with cross-functional teams to gather information and solve problems.
- Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing with the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Analytical thinker and a team player.
- Strong Excel skills and proficiency with financial software.
- Ideally targeting a CPA path
