Strategist-Strategist (Part-Time)
The Part-Time Strategist serves as a senior advisory and relationship-building resource within the Deans Office of the Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine. This role supports the Deans strategic priorities by cultivating and managing high-level relationships across the veterinary profession animal health and biomedical industries governmental and legislative stakeholders and other external partners.
The Strategist provides insight guidance and coordination to advance the Schools mission visibility and long-term impact. This position plays a critical role in shaping the external relationships and strategic trajectory of LCSVM ensuring strong alignment with the veterinary profession industry partners and public stakeholders while advancing the Schools mission and long-term success.
Responsibilities
Strategic Partnerships and External Relations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with leaders and organizations within the veterinary profession including academic institutions professional associations and clinical partners.
- Engage with animal health biotechnology pharmaceutical and related industries to explore opportunities for collaboration sponsorship workforce development and innovation.
- Serve as a liaison between the School of Veterinary Medicine and external stakeholders to align shared interests and strategic goals.
Government and Legislative Engagement
- Support outreach and relationship-building with local state and federal legislative and regulatory stakeholders relevant to veterinary medicine animal health education and research.
- Monitor legislative and policy developments affecting veterinary education and the profession; advise the Deans Office on implications and opportunities.
- Assist in preparing briefing materials talking points and strategic messaging for meetings with policymakers and public officials.
Strategic Advising and Representation
- Advise the Dean and senior leadership on strategic initiatives emerging trends and external opportunities impacting veterinary medicine and animal health.
- Contribute to long-range planning efforts special projects and cross-institutional initiatives as assigned by the Dean.
- Support the Schools positioning and reputation through thoughtful engagement messaging and partnership strategy.
Collaboration and Engagement
- Represent the Deans Office and the School of Veterinary Medicine at select professional meetings industry events and stakeholder forums as appropriate.
- Collaborate with internal teams including advancement communications academic leadership research and clinical partners to ensure coordinated and effective external engagement.
Qualifications
- Significant professional experience in veterinary medicine animal health higher education leadership public policy industry relations or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated success in relationship-building with senior leaders industry partners professional organizations and/or government stakeholders.
- Strong strategic thinking communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently exercise sound judgment and manage sensitive or confidential matters with discretion.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with veterinary education academic medicine or health-related policy environments.
- Experience working with legislative or regulatory bodies.
