The Middlesex County Prosecutors Office is seeking a qualified and motivated candidate to fill vacancies for the position of Assistant Prosecutor. Assistant Prosecutors perform a wide range of professional legal duties in the prosecution of criminal matters on behalf of the State of New Jersey including evaluating criminal cases preparing matters for trial and advocating for victims and the interests of justice.
Key Responsibilities:
Review analyze and evaluate criminal cases for legal sufficiency and prosecutor merit.
Prepare cases for trial including drafting motions conducting legal research and interviewing witnesses.
Represent the State of New Jersey in court proceedings hearings and trials.
Work collaboratively with law enforcement victims and other stakeholders.
Exercise sound legal judgment and uphold the highest ethical standards.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday minimum hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required based on trial schedules.
Conditional offers of employment are extended only to candidates who successfully complete the interview process which consists of a series of interviews with Assistant Prosecutors and the County Prosecutor.
Following acceptance of a conditional offer candidates must:
Submit a completed employment application within the specified timeframe.
Successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation conducted by the Middlesex County Prosecutors Office.
Submit to a drug screening conducted by the New Jersey State Medical Examiners Laboratory.
Complete a medical examination conducted by a County-contracted vendor.
Final appointment is subject to approval by the Middlesex County Board of County Commissioners.
