Department Overview:
TD Cards (including MBNA)is the largest dual issuer of Visa and MasterCard products and holds the position of #1 market share in Canada. TD Consumer and Business credit cards are distributed nationally leveraging our retail distribution network direct response channels and key co-brand partnerships including Aeroplan.
As a member of the Strategic Partnerships & Support Team within Canadian Credit Cards the Senior Manager Strategic Business Partners Payments Operational Service Providers will report to the AVP and will be accountable for managing the business relationships with all of the Cards Strategic Operational Vendors including but not limited to G&D Symcor FIS(TSYS) FICO and the Credit Bureaus. This accountability includes risk management contracting exploring new capabilities and business opportunities exit strategies pricing and expense management for each of these critical vendors. The Senior Manager will manage a team of Relationships Managers to support this portfolio. Several of these vendors support other business areas at TD and in some cases our EVP has accountability for these enterprise relationships.
This role will have accountability for understanding the strategic needs of the Cards business looking for ways in which these vendors should support. This is often done by consulting with Product Owners Delivery and Technology areas regarding current or potential capabilities and integration points with TD. This role will be brought in to support project or incident escalations only as needed to ensure appropriate support from all these key partners.
It will be an asset for this individual to understand both the Canadian Credit and Debit Cards businesses (North American knowledge is an asset) Third Party relationship management negotiation practices and the general contracting principles. Financial acumen is a critical skill. People management experience is a must.
Key Accountabilities:
Reporting to the AVP Payment Products & Vendor Relationships the Senior Manager Strategic Business Partners Payments Operational Service Providers is accountable to:
Manage a team of Relationship Managers for G&D Symcor Canada Post FIS(TSYS) FICO Equifax Trans Union Assurant DAA Sigma
Create and update strategic roadmap for each of these partners including contract timelines amendments opportunities to reduce costs relative to each while enhancing efficiency in delivery support. We also look to these vendors to offer initiatives which reduce paper use carbon footprint and make use of environmentally friendly materials.
Facilitate forums for TD and third-party Executives to meet regularly to exchange information about planned priorities risks operating stability and insights.
Work with Product/Delivery and Technology Owners to ensure the strategic objectives of the business are supported as appropriate by these vendors looking for efficiencies where possible)
Act as TD Product Owner of projects initiated by these third parties where appropriate
Working with Procurement to understand enforce amend and negotiate the contracts
Review monthly vendor expenses for MBNA and TD looking for opportunities to reduce operating costs through efficiency.
Qualifications / Skills / Experience:
Demonstrated strategic thinkers with ability to translate technical and procedural capabilities into business opportunity and vice versa.
Exceptional Relationship Management skills both internal and with third parties
Significant experience with contracts negotiations expense management and vendor management required.
Results-focused and enthusiastic self-starter with proven ability to execute with excellence and influence broadly.
Strong team player able to develop lasting relationships and demonstrated ability in working effectively in cross-functional teams
Strong analytical skills
Experience with Executive Presentations; excellent communication and presentation skills both written and verbal
Demonstrated ability to inspire others to think creatively while being able to organize these thoughts to create business strategy
Proven ability to effectively communicate complex issues and articulate options proactively providing actionable solutions
Effective negotiation skills and the ability to influence business partners identify issues and provide value-added solutions
Independent worker with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Flexibility to adapt and manage within a fast-paced dynamic business environment
Understanding of Credit and Debit Card products credit policies operational processes is an asset
Specific Educational Requirements / Accreditations:
Post-Secondary/University degree in business Finance or related discipline or equivalent experience
