The City & Borough of Juneau Capital Transit is seeking a Service Technician II to join the team!

We are seeking candidates with a mechanical aptitude that enjoy operating cleaning and maintaining the various types of vehicles and equipment Capital Transit uses to provide exceptional and reliable service to the community. We are particularly interested in candidates that are interested in furthering their Alaska CDL endorsements.

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION
This position typically works 10-hour shifts Wednesday - Saturday 6:30am 5:00pm at the Capital Transit Bus Barn Maintenance Facility in the Valley. The actual shift may vary.
Typical Responsibilities
This position will be primarily responsible for vehicle and facility maintenance and cleanliness including bus stops and shelters. Duties will include washing fueling and performing pre-trip inspections on Capital Transits buses and support vehicles facility cleaning and trash removal. Specific assignments are given by the Transit Superintendent and work is checked for completeness and adherence to schedules. This position requires heavy lifting and physical endurance. You will be frequently working outdoors in inclement weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications
The Service Technician II LTT position requires a valid State of Alaska Drivers License at time of application.
Or
A valid Class A or B Commercial Drivers License with airbrake and passenger from any U.S. state at time of application. The candidate must obtain a valid State of Alaska Class A or B Commercial Drivers License including appropriate endorsements within 9 months of appointmentfor continued employment.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
The position is a safety-sensitive position and is subject to United States Department of Transportation(USDOT)- Federal Transit Administration (FTA) drug and alcohol testing. Additionally applicants ofsafety-sensitive positions are required (even if ultimately not hired) to provide the City and Borough ofJuneau with signed written releases requesting USDOT drug and alcohol records from all previousUSDOT-covered employers that the applicant has worked for within the last two years. Failure to do sowill result in the employment offer being rescinded.
The City and Borough of Juneau is also required to ask all applicants (even if not ultimately not hired) ifthey have tested positive or refused to test on pre-employment test for any USDOT covered employerwithin the last two years.
Appointments will be made conditionally pending successful completion of all portions of the selections process a medical evaluation* and receipt of verified negative results of pre-employment testing for controlled substances. Employees are then subject to random reasonable suspicion post-accident return-to-duty- and follow-up drug and alcohol as mandated by the Federal Transit Administration and CBJ policy.
*Required for new hires only.
**Minimum qualifications to apply for employment into a Capital Transit Service Technician II position requires the incumbent in a Service Technician II Long Term Temp. position to obtain a valid Class B Alaska Commercial Drivers License valid for vehicles equipped with airbrakes within 9 months of appointment.
