Position Summary
Responsible for the planning management and coordination of the front or back end manufacturing operation. This entails the development of monthly and weekly production schedules. Responsible for the safe manufacture of a quality product with minimal scrap or rework while meeting customer specifications. Establishes and maintains budgets for the areas supervised. Responsible for manpower planning in areas of supervision. Directs and monitors production; this involves delegation of authority of Area Managers Supervisors and/or Production Supervisors as well as Engineering staff.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Manages staff of front-line production supervisors and operators.
Develop manufacturing plans and maintain production schedules.
Supervise allocation of material manpower and equipment resources.
Ensure adherence to process control procedures operating instructions and all quality control instructions.
Responsible for the safe manufacturing of quality product with minimal scrap or rework while meeting customer specifications and delivery commitments.
Ensure that the legal requirements and company safety policies are enforced.
Establish and execute annual operating budgets for area of responsibility. Responsible to make or beat the budget. Take appropriate action to correct deviations from budgets or operating plans.
Prepare and review budget allocations and ensure profitable operation of plant including cost reduction programs.
Formulate long and short-range strategies for continuous improvements for all plant manufacturing functions.
Control quality delivery cost of production work in process levels and monitors production through manufacturing planning.
Recommend and purchase new equipment for expansion efficiency cost reductions quality or improvement.
Maintain and enhance a team environment and motivates the production workforce.
Maintain favourable employee relations through interaction with the Human Resources Manager.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Experience & Education
Bachelors degree in Engineering or Business Administration highly preferred
7 10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering operations or material management. Aerospace highly preferred
At least five years of experience in a leadership role
Required Skills
Understanding of manufacturing mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
Problem solving and critical thinking; ability to solve problems using data and defined problem-solving methodologies; comfort with day-to-day use of Six Sigma and Theory of Constraints
Ability to communicate clearly with all levels of employees management vendors and customers.
Ability to work with senior management as a business team. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
Results oriented ability to organize and coordinate diverse activity.
Desired Skills
Experience in investment casting a plus!
