Practice Details

Sanford Clinic Brookings is seeking a BC/BE General Pediatrician to join their group of three Family Medicine Physicians.

Outpatient-only practice. Telephone call only. No ER or hospital call required.
Current outreach services to this clinic include OB/GYN Dermatology Urology Pediatric Cardiology General Surgery Behavioral Health Nephrology and Cardiology Podiatry Acute Care/walk in services.
Full-Service Lab Digital Radiology Ultrasound Mammogram MRI Lactation Services Social Worker with an Integrative Health Therapist onsite.
Hospital: Brookings Hospital is a 61-bed hospital with an attached 79 bed nursing home which is a non-profit city-owned facility.

Community Description

Brookings is located off Interstate 29 approximately 55 miles north of Sioux Falls. With a population of just over 22000 Brookings is the fourth largest city in South Dakota. It is home to several large companies including Daktronics Bel Brands and 3M. The community offers a variety of attractions and entertainment and has one of the nations lowest crime rates. It is also home to Division I South Dakota State University whose athletic and arts programs are highly supported by the community.

Job Description

Pediatric Core Privilege include the ability to admit (if applicable to setting) evaluate diagnose treat and provide consultation to patients from birth to young adulthood (21 years of age) concerning their physical emotional and social health as well as treating acute and chronic disease including major complicated illnesses. Core privileges may also include providing care to patients in the intensive care setting in conformance with unit addition applicants may assess stabilize and determine the disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services.

Qualifications

M.D. or D.O. degree.

Experience can be demonstrated in one of the following ways and should be reflective of the privileges being requested: An applicant who has just completed a residency provides his/her residency log. OR An applicant who is not applying directly out of a residency shall provide a quality profile from the hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the past 12 months including numbers of procedures performed morbidity mortality infection rates and other complications. The applicant must be able to demonstrate at least 50 pediatric patients in the last 12 months. OR If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges documentation of the applicants clinical setting activity for the last 12 months is required. The applicant must be able to demonstrate at least 50 pediatrc patients in the clinical practice in the last 12 education and experience may be required the more advanced the practice becomes.

Successful completion of a hospital affiliated residency Pediatric program accredited by the ACGME the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada. Training at residency programs accredited by organizations other than the above may be considered via the waiver of eligibility process as defined in the Credentialing Policy. Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/sub-specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as applicable. Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their residency training within the last five years shall be eligible however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
