SUMMARY OF FUNCTION
The Food Truck Manager oversees all operations of the organizations food truck while providing enrichmentmentorship and work-based learning opportunities for students enrolled in Career and Technical Education(CTE) culinary programs. This position bridges classroom learning with real-world entrepreneurial experienceby guiding students in food preparation customer service financial literacy and business operations throughthe daily management of a mobile food enterprise. The Manager ensures the food truck operates safelyefficiently and in compliance with health and licensing regulations while serving as a dynamic educationalplatform that connects instruction with workforce readiness.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Plan coordinate and manage all aspects of the food trucks daily operations including menudevelopment inventory control purchasing staffing scheduling and compliance with localhealth regulations.
- Collaborate with culinary arts instructors to design and implement enrichment activities thatenhance classroom learning with applied hands-on experiences.
- Supervise and mentor students during food truck operations emphasizing teamwork safetysanitation customer service and entrepreneurial practices.
- Facilitate student participation in food service operations at school and community eventsensuring a positive and professional experience.
- Develop and manage operating budgets sales reports and financial records for the food truckteaching students fundamental business and accounting principles.
- Maintain partnerships with local vendors sponsors and community organizations to supportprogram growth and sustainability.
- Ensure all equipment vehicles and facilities are maintained in safe and working order.
- Model ethical business practices workplace professionalism and equity-minded instruction in allactivities.

- Safe food handling practices sanitation standards and local health codes.
- Budgeting purchasing and small business accounting practices.
- Work-based learning models and CTE instructional strategies.

- Lead train and motivate high school students in a real-world work environment.
- Collaborate effectively with educators administrators and community partners.
- Communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
- Manage time logistics and multiple concurrent projects effectively.
- Operate and maintain a food truck point-of-sale system and catering equipment
- Demonstrate flexibility creativity and a strong commitment to student development andcommunity engagement.
FOOD TRUCK MANAGER DUTIES
- Align food truck activities with CTE curriculum standards and learning outcomes.
- Coordinate with instructors to develop student learning plans and performance assessments tiedto food truck experiences.
- Facilitate internships job-shadowing and mentorship opportunities with local culinarybusinesses.
- Ensure compliance with district and state requirements for work-based learning placementsincluding documentation safety training and evaluations.
- Promote student participation in career exploration events competitions and industrycertifications.
- Gather data to evaluate program effectiveness and provide reports on student progress andoutcomes.
OTHER DUTIES
- Support the planning and execution of community outreach events and fundraisers.
- Serve as an ambassador for the CTE and nonprofit programs at community and industryfunctions.
- Participate in professional development to stay current with culinary trends and instructionalpractices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors to support the mission and goals of theprogram.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required Education and Experience:
- Relevant CTE Hospitality & Tourism authorization or Work-Based Learning Coordinatorcertification.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in culinary operations catering or food servicemanagement.
- Experience working with youth preferably in a school or training environment.
- Valid ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Valid drivers license and clean driving record required; ability to operate a food truck.
PREFERRED
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Culinary Arts Hospitality Management BusinessAdministration or related field required; equivalent industry experience considered.
- Experience in entrepreneurship or nonprofit management.
Position Summary:
