Job Summary

Through the generosity of inspired donors the Development Team strives to sustain and further elevate the United States Naval Academys goal of being the Nations flagship institution for undergraduate education leadership and character development. Alumni parents and friends from around the country work closely with the Regional Development Team to enhance their engagement with the Naval Academy through the Naval Academy Foundation. Our team is committed to building lifelong relationships with highly dedicated donors and leadership volunteers to deepen their connection to the mission of the Naval Academy through philanthropy. Our mission is achieved by working one-on-one with donors as well as engaging others interested in supporting the Academy through high impact events featuring faculty staff and other alumni.

The position is part of a passionate and energetic team all of whom are driven to advance our mission as well as their own professional and personal growth. The team works closely together to think strategically address opportunities and challenges as well as search for ways to improve both team and individual performance. This position reports to the Associate VP Development and works closely with the Regional Development and the Annual Giving teams to promote growth in philanthropic support for the Naval Academy and the Alumni Association and Foundation.

The Manager Leadership Annual Giving is a key part of the Foundations 2030 Campaign and will focus on donor solicitations and engagement opportunities with a focus on individuals giving between $2500-$15000 annually.

This position has an annual salary range of $57100 - $71350.

Due to the collaborative nature of the role and the consistent in-person interaction with the Foundation staff is necessary. This position is based in Annapolis and is not eligible for a full-time remote working arrangement.

This position pays a competitive salary commensurate with experience and is also eligible for an annual performance-based bonus when applicable. You would also be eligible for a generous benefits plan which includes medical dental vision an FSA an HSA a fully-vested 403(b) retirement plan with employer matching 22 days of accrued paid time off (PTO) per fiscal year 14 paid holidays per calendar year group life insurance short-term & long-term disability identity theft protection and annual opportunities for professional development. Although not guaranteed certain additional benefits may be offered through the Naval Academy such as use of certain recreational facilities (including the Brigade Sports Complex gym marina and indoor/outdoor pools) as well as category II eligibility for employee children to apply to the Naval Academy Primary School.

This position is based in historic Annapolis at our current offices located overlooking the Severn River on the beautiful grounds of the U.S. Naval 2023 the staff of the Alumni Association and Foundation moved into new modern offices in the Fluegel Alumni Center which is built on the banks of College Creek overlooking the Naval Academy and downtown Annapolis.

The United States Naval Academy Alumni Association and the United States Naval Academy Foundation are two independent not-for-profit corporations sharing a single president and CEO and operating as a fully integrated organization in support of the Naval Academy and its mission. The organizations focus and core competencies are engagement and philanthropy in pursuit of complementary and closely aligned missions.

EXPECTATIONS

  • Build and manage a portfolio of approximately 200-300 prospective and current leadership annual gift donors capable of making gifts between $2500- $15000 in support of the Naval Academy and donors own philanthropic goals
  • Implement donor engagement and communications strategies in key campaign regions to identify cultivate and solicit prospective leadership annual gift donors
  • Commitment to support team goals and meet individual annual goals for dollars raised and corresponding activity such as donor meetings and other key metrics
  • Integrate into a team culture that emphasizes excellence lifelong learning and a performance management system that sets high expectations and drives results

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Approaches each day with grit and optimism works with enthusiasm thinks with intellect and acts with honesty and
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Dedication to growth and professional development with an openness to coaching and mentoring
  • A bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 2 to 5 years development (i.e. non-profit fundraising) experience preferred
  • Highly capable in Microsoft Office products and telecommunications software such as videoconferencing platforms.
  • Aptitude for complex fundraising or sales database systems preferably experience in Blackbaud CRM or similar systems.
  • Some overnight travel required; a willingness to be on the road approximately 5-10 nights per year.
  • Willingness to attend evening and weekend events at the Naval Academy including sporting events such as Navy football and academic conferences / lectures
  • Perform or assist other duties as assigned.
