POSITION SUMMARY
The Advancement Officer Individual Giving helps to drive revenue within the Culinary Institute of Americas (CIA)s Individual Giving addition to carrying a personal portfolio of up to 250 active prospects and supporters the Advancement Officer provides coordinating support at the direction of the Senior Advancement Officer to all Advancement team portfolio managers and is the primary administrator for the colleges Society of Fellows program which generates $1 million annually. With a focus on fundraising and business development for annual operational support the Advancement Officer works collaboratively with their colleagues in the Advancement and Alumni Relations Office to ensure a highly integrated and seamless approach to furthering the strategic and fundraising goals of the CIA.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates with colleagues to identify and qualify prospective donors using best practices for matching donor interest with institutional priorities with a particular focus on annual operating support.
- Manages a portfolio of up to 250 current and prospective donors meeting or exceeding institutional performance metrics.
- Monitors progress toward achieving fundraising goals.
- Attends assists and supports a variety of events throughout the year including but not limited to alumni weekend regional events donor recognition celebrations etc.
- Implements all direct mail solicitations for alumni parents corporations organizations and friends.
- Provides support for all annual giving communications including writing editing and production oversight related to direct mail email phone crowdfunding social media fundraising and giving days.
- Coordinates the annual faculty/staff fundraising campaign.
- Supports the engagement of the colleges Society of Fellows and serves as the main administrator of the program responsible for newsletter tracking annual renewals engagement strategies programing stewardship retention and growth etc.
- Attends regular prospect clearance track and manage meetings.
- Develops and implements strategies to ensure successful solicitation of cash gifts from constituencies in support of the CIAs initiatives.
- Documents contact and prospect moves tracking progress in the CIA Advancement database.
- Supports the creation of donor materials and proposals and achieves donor meeting targets.
- Prepares reports as directed by the Senior Advancement Officer.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in fundraising communications business finance or related field or an Associates Degree and significant experience in lieu of.
Experience:
- Two (2) to five (5) years of progressive experience within fundraising sales business development or higher education.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Higher education or foodservice industry work experience preferred.
- Experience in nonprofit fundraising.
- Previous annual fund/alumni relations sales or marketing experience in a university setting.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Strong analytical problem-solving and conceptual skills.
- Excellent written verbal communication and presentation skills required. Must have demonstrated ability in organizational time management problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment and maintain collaborative relationships with all members of the team. High level of energy and self-motivation.
- Strong computer experience including the ability to work effectively with MS Office suite.
- Ability to be adaptable dependable and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to use sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive issues with confidentiality and discretion.
- Embody an entrepreneurial spirit.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to travel occasionally domestically and throughout the region to fulfill business needs including but not limited to college and donor sponsored events.
- Must be available to work nights and weekends as required due to business needs.
- Ability to lift and carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
- Regular work requires the use of a computer sometimes in excess of eight (8) hours per day.
