Sr. Software Engineer

Opportunity Overview:

Cohere Health is at the forefront of leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to transform prior authorization shifting from transaction-based processes to creating elevated care journeys. By integrating AI into healthcare decisioning we aim to improve efficiency reduce costs and ultimately enhance patient care. This is a unique opportunity to join our rapidly growing Clinical Intelligence team where youll work on building impactful healthcare technologies that streamline and optimize the prior authorization process using AI/ML and Advanced Rules Engines.

What youll do:

• Contribute to the functional & technical roadmap for the team working alongside cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact deterministic rules-based and AI-driven healthcare automation solutions.
• Actively support the technical design process bringing your expertise and analysis to help make data-driven decisions
• Continuously discover understand and implement new technologies & services to maximize development efficiency
• Contribute heavily to feature design development testing and delivery of our cloud platform and web applications
• Support all parts of our platform from the database to the frontend
• Drive daily engineering release once 2-4 times a month
• Perform production support duties 1-2 times a year.

What we looking for:

• You have experience working on software development teams building and deploying full stack web applications
• You are passionate about building quality products and want to own product development end-to-end with excellent design and development standards
• You can collaborate closely with teammates in product and design to build applications providing healthcare practitioners with the highest quality user experience
• You have experience with common software development practices such as version control unit testing and CI/CD
• You are a team player and are interested in working at a fast-paced startup environment

What youll need:

• Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science software engineering or equivalent experience in the field.
• Minimum of 6 - 8 years of full time experience in software development lifecycle required Proficiency with Java/Groovy or Python
• Experience building applications using React and Javascript. TypeScript is a plus
• Familiarity with cloud development AWS/Azure
• Hands on experience leveraging test frameworks such as Cypress Jest Mocha JUnit or Cucumber is a plus but not required
• Experience using relational (MySql Postgres) and NoSQL (Dynamo Elastic Mongo) datastores along with data access patterns and strategies.
• Ability to demonstrate a high level of ownership for the entire SDLC including designing building testing deploying and supporting production services in a fast-paced environment.
• Be self-starter requiring minimal direction with ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities and requirements
• Prior experience in healthcare and life sciences is a plus but is not required

Nice-to-haves

• Integrating AI/LLM-based systems into product workflows.
• Open source or community projects.
• Designing or implementing agent based systems or AI products involving autonomous or task-driven agents.
