For the 2026-2028 cohort we seek candidates for a fellowship in the Department of Environmental Studies with specialization in forest carbon dynamics climate policy and nature-based solutions. The fellow will work at the intersection of forest ecology and environmental policy investigating the effectiveness of forest carbon offset programs in meeting climate mitigation goals with opportunities to engage across Dartmouths interdisciplinary climate and sustainability networks.

Salary and resources
This is a two-year fellowship (up to 24 months) beginning 1 July 2026. Fellows receive competitive stipends and benefits comparable to those offered by other fellowship programs and $5000 annually to support computing travel and research needs.
Applicants for the 2026-2028 Society Fellowships must hold a PhD or be ABD in a relevant discipline. To be eligible for the fellowship applicants must have their degree conferred between January 1 2024 and June 30 2026. Selection criteria include exceptional and innovative research ability to transcend disciplinary boundaries and potential to contribute to an interdisciplinary community of scholars.
Dartmouth can provide J-1 or other non-immigrant visa sponsorship for eligible candidates.
