Job Duties
This position responds to telephone inquiries and requests for assistance to the Consumer Protection Hotline from consumers and others regarding consumer complaints and consumer-related topics including where to file complaints how complaints are handled by the Attorney Generals Office and consumer scams. Some inquiries are handled electronically in writing or in person. The position provides consumer education and other information as may be appropriate including information regarding consumer protection laws other consumer protection agencies and other resources. The Intake Specialist also compiles and reports information regarding consumer issues derived from calls to the Consumer Protection Hotline. The position reports to the Manager of the Counseling Intake and Referral Unit.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidates should possess strong oral and written communication skills; telephone communication skills; customer service skills; the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced high-volume environment; knowledge of state and federal consumer protection laws; and knowledge of the handling of consumer complaints by local state and federal agencies.
Proficiency using personal computers is required.
