ABOUT THE POSITION
TheEACsClimateLeadership Badgeprogram (CLB)ispart of the Climate Commitment Badge Program which is a collaborationwithHalifACT. The CLB programinvitesand supportsHRM residents to takethe next step intoleadershiponclimate action in their part oftheCLBEAC will offermultiple events and workshops that encourageHRM residents tobecomeclimate volunteerswith existing groups build their skills or begin their own climate actionand community-buildinginitiatives in theirneighbourhoods.
The Climate LeadershipProgram Officerwill play a keysupportrole inthelogisticsadministration planningpromotionanddocumentationofeventsand workshopsrelated to theCLBsuch astheClimate Action Volunteer FairStone Soupcommunity mobilizationsessions willhelp to coordinate volunteers for these events as well as supportingthe Petition Action Team ateam of EAC volunteers whotakeour Community Engagement team in planning and executingotherEAC eventsas needed including the EACReno-versaryeventsand the Peoples ParadeforLife onEarth.
Specificresponsibilities:
Represent the EAC at Leadership Badge workshops welcome participants explain the program and distribute badges.
Promote the Leadership Badge programs at EAC or other community events.
Assistin planning and executing Leadership Badge workshops and events and other EAC events as needed. This may include:
Working with staff and community members to plan the events
Coordinating volunteers for the events
Booking venues caterers childcaretranslators equipment and otherlogistics
Tracking registration and communicating with participants
Being onsite for each event as staff support and
Documenting and evaluating events.
Followup with participants afterLeadership Badgeworkshopsto share resources.
Supportthe Petition Action Team as needed including coordinating volunteertrainingsandassistingwith scheduling andlogistics.
Support otherEACcommunity engagement initiativesand eventsas needed.

WHAT YOU BRING
Experience in event planning and working with volunteers.
Experience working or volunteering with varied organizations (e.g. non-profits faith organizations funding bodies band councils government agencies).
Experiencecoordinating withneighbourspeers or community membersaroundclimate changeorother social or environmentalissues.
Canbe outgoing and can easily talk to thegeneralpublic.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Motivated with a strong work ethic anda demonstratedability to work independently andmanage time effectively.
Thrives in a collaborative team environment.
Passionate aboutclimate action and community-building.
Computer literacy inOffice 365(including Outlook SharePoint Word Excel and PowerPoint) and web-based platforms.
Available to work on evenings and weekends; willing to travelwithin the HRM.
Other skills and experience considered an asset:
Some post-secondary education such as university credits in a field related to climate sustainability social justice community development or another relevant field.
Experiencein data collection data entry and data management.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Part-timeFixed-term contract;March2026-October 2026; 4-day22.5hrwork week Monday - Thursday withavailabilityon evenings and weekends.Find out more about our 4-day work week here
Remuneration:$28-$29.40/hrcommensuratewith experience 4% vacation pay
Hybrid work withenvironment requiring 1-2 days a week in our office in Halifaxs North End. Willingness to travel throughout the HRM
