Your Opportunity
One Permanent Full Time Position.
We are seeking a highly skilled Originator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing customer relationships and structuring transactions across the Eastern Interconnect particularly the PJM wholesale electricity market. This role requires a deep understanding of the energy markets strong negotiation skills and the ability to execute complex transactions.
You will contribute to our team by:
Customer Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers in Eastern power markets.
Transaction Structuring: Identify negotiate and structure complex transactions that meet the needs of our customers and align with company objectives.
Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market analysis to identify opportunities and risks within PJM for power generators.
Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams including trading legal finance and operations to ensure successful transaction execution.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all transactions comply with relevant regulations and company policies.
Reporting: Prepare and present detailed reports on transaction performance and market trends to senior management.
What you will bring to the role:
Education:
Bachelors degree in Business Finance Economics Engineering or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy markets with a focus on transaction origination and structuring.
Technical and Social Process Skills:
Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
In-depth knowledge of the Eastern power markets.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Self-motivated and goal-oriented.
Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working Conditions:
The Calgary office is the preferred location but we will consider working remotely.
Moderate travel is required to meet customers and to travel within Capital Power offices/locations.
