The Middle School & High School Teacher plays a vital role in empowering students to grow into confident capable and responsible adults. This position is more than teachingits mentoring advocating collaborating and celebrating progress every single day. Reporting to the building principal this educator is a cornerstone of a safe engaging and student-centered learning environment. Job Description Inspire Learning & Growth Deliver engaging instruction to individuals and groups using multi-sensory developmentally appropriate strategies. Design evaluate and continuously improve curriculum to meet diverse learner needs. Set meaningful performance objectives for each student and track progress through organized data collection and assessment. Champion Student Success Create a positive structured and dignified classroom environment where every student can thrive. Analyze student behavior and implement thoughtful effective behavior supports. Constantly monitor student safety and well-being ensuring concerns are addressed promptly and responsibly. Collaborate & Lead Work closely with teachers therapists service providers and administrators to support IEP goals and whole-student development. Serve as an active member of multidisciplinary teams including evaluation and educational planning committees. Supervise and mentor student teachers interns vocational students volunteers and support staff. Partner with Families & Community Build strong trusting relationships with parents and home providers through consistent communication and collaboration. Support families by sharing resources guidance and insight related to student needs and transitions. Lead and participate in community-based instruction and activities ensuring safety learning and real-world skill development. Be a School & Community Ambassador Help organize and support school-wide events and activities. Maintain positive relationships with community partners and service agencies. Assist with student transitions to other special or general education programs. Professionalism & Organization Maintain accurate timely records and reports. Participate in ongoing professional development conferences and required training. Manage classroom funds and instructional schedules efficiently. Administer required state assessments including M-STEP and MI-Access. Physical & Practical Requirements This role is active and hands-on requiring the ability to: Navigate school buildings grounds and community settings. Walk extended distances during community-based instruction. Assist students during sports and special events. Lift up to 30 pounds and support classroom upkeep. Follow universal safety precautions at all times. Maintain a consistent on-site presence each scheduled workday. Complete required CPI CPR/AED and first aid training. Additional Requirements Citizenship residency or work visa required Bachelors degree in education from an accredited college or university required. Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate along with a Special Education Endorsement or on an alternative path/route to obtain the required endorsements.
