Job Overview/Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Hospitalist to provide comprehensive inpatient medical care. The Hospitalist will function as an attending physician coordinating patient care across specialties managing admissions and discharges responding to medical emergencies and ensuring compliance with hospital policies quality standards and teaching responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform all duties of an attending physician as outlined in the Medical Staff Bylaws.

  • Coordinate specialty consultations and optimize resource utilization.

  • Ensure timely patient discharges including completion of discharge instructions and medication reconciliation.

  • Dictate discharge summaries at the time of discharge and ensure copies are sent to family physicians and relevant specialists.

  • Participate in Quality Improvement (QI) Risk Management (RM) and Utilization Management (UM) activities as requested.

  • Respond to hospital codes as Lead Physician when required.

  • Serve as a backup member of the Rapid Response Team when Intensivists are unavailable.

  • Perform emergent procedures including intubations and central line placements.

  • Complete medical records accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Adhere to Medical Staff Bylaws hospital rules regulations and policies.

  • Perform life- and limb-saving procedures as clinically necessary.

  • Ensure compliance with Core Measure quality indicators for assigned patients.

  • Participate in teaching programs and comply with voluntary teaching faculty requirements.

  • Respond to PRN calls for patient evaluations and orders.

  • Perform miscellaneous procedures as required including ACLS initial EKG interpretation radiologic interpretation urinary catheter insertion and ABGs (House Physician only).

  • Pronounce patient death when appropriate.

  • Order and renew patient restraints as clinically indicated.

  • Obtain informed consent for autopsy organ/tissue donation transfusions DNR orders withdrawal of care and other required consent forms.

  • Perform additional duties as mutually agreed upon.

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):

  • Teaching and mentoring medical trainees

  • Quality improvement initiatives

  • Utilization management experience

  • Leadership in rapid response or code teams

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine

  • Active and unrestricted medical license

  • ACLS certification (required)

  • Eligibility for hospital privileges
