Position Overview

The Hospitalist is a key member of the inpatient medical team responsible for providing high-quality efficient and coordinated care to adult inpatients from admission through discharge. This physician will practice in a dynamic community hospital setting working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe transitions of care optimal throughput and superior clinical outcomes for a diverse patient population in East Houston.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of inpatient care including admission evaluation diagnosis daily management and discharge planning.
  • Coordinate closely with nursing specialists case management and ancillary departments to optimize patient flow quality and patient experience.
  • Maintain timely accurate and comprehensive documentation in the electronic medical record in alignment with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds quality and performance improvement initiatives and medical staff activities.
  • Respond to rapid response and code events as assigned and provide consultation for hospitalized patients as needed.
  • Support education and onboarding of residents medical students and advanced practice providers when applicable.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
  • Current unrestricted Texas medical license and DEA registration.
  • Active BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Prior hospitalist or inpatient experience is preferred; a demonstrated record of clinical excellence is required.
