Spring Island Club seeks a highly skilled and experienced Director of Equestrian Operations to oversee and manage all aspects of our equestrian program. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic planning development and day-to-day operations of the equestrian facilities ensuring the highest standards of care for horses exceptional service for members and a safe and welcoming environment for all. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing a positive culture in the barn for members guests and equestrian staff and ensuring that the barn is a welcoming place for everyone in the community. The Director of Equestrian Operations reports directly to theAssistant General Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
Oversee the recruitment training and management of all equestrian staff including instructors barn supervisors and support personnel.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures for all equestrian activities and facilities.
Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
Horse Care and Stable Management:
Ensure the highest standards of horse care including feeding grooming health monitoring and veterinary care.
Maintain an adequate inventory of quality hay grain supplements grooming aids and basic medical supplies.
Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of stables arenas and other equestrian facilities.
Manage the acquisition training and retirement of horses.
Program Development:
Develop and implement anequestrian program that includes lessons clinics trail rides boarding and exercise programs and special events.
Tailor programs to meet the needs and interests of a diverse membership from beginners to advanced riders.
Promote member engagement and participation in equestrian activities.
Facility Management:
Oversee the maintenance and improvement of equestrian facilities including pastures arenas trails paddocks and equipment.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
Manage budgets for facility maintenance and improvements.
Member Relations:
Provide exceptional service to all members and guests.
Address member inquiries feedback and concerns promptly and professionally.
Develop and implement strategies to increase member satisfaction and participation in equestrian programs.
Budgeting and Financial Management:
Develop submit for approval and manage the annual budget for the equestrian department.
Monitor financial performance and implement cost-effective measures while maximizing the member experience.
Seek opportunities for revenue generation through programming and maximizing occupancy and services offered in the barn.
Qualifications:
Extensive experience in high-end equestrian facility management including supervisory experience is required. A bachelors degree in Equine Science Business Management or a related field is preferred but not required.
Strong horse care equestrian veterinary care training and stable management knowledge. Ability to administer basic medical treatment including shots and vaccinations leg wrapping worming and wound treatment
Excellent leadership communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to develop and implement successful equestrian programs.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
Certification in equestrian disciplines or management is a plus.

Our equestrian program is a key feature of our community providing members with top-notch facilities and a wide range of riding opportunities including over 30 miles of trails. Our facilities include an 11000-square-foot barn with 24 stalls a tack room wash rack and an uncovered jumping and dressage arena. The facility spans 21 paddocks spread over 35 acres. Spring Island is a recreational equestrian facility with member-owned and club-owned horses. Although some members participate in competitions we are not a formal training barn. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of care for our horses and delivering exceptional experiences for our members.
