Job Description:

Java / AWS Software Engineer

Card Installments Technology Location: New York City NY (Onsite 5 days/week)

Engagement: W2 Only

Overview

JPMorgan Chases Card Installments Technology team is seeking a Java / AWS Software Engineer to support the design development and enhancement of high-volume customer-facing installment lending platforms within the Consumer & Community Banking organization. This role sits within a fast-paced regulated environment and requires strong backend engineering skills cloud-native development experience and the ability to collaborate closely with product architecture and risk partners.

This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with a strong path to full-time conversion.

Key Responsibilities

Design develop and support Java-based microservices supporting card installments and consumer lending capabilities

Build and deploy cloud-native applications on AWS leveraging modern DevOps and CI/CD practices

Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven services for high-throughput low-latency systems

Collaborate with product owners architects and QA teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions

Participate in code reviews architecture discussions and production support activities

Ensure solutions meet JPMC security risk compliance and resiliency standards

Contribute to system scalability performance optimization and reliability improvements

Support Agile/Scrum delivery processes in a highly collaborative team environment

Required Qualifications

10 years of professional Java development experience (Java 8)

Strong experience building Spring / Spring Boot microservices

Hands-on experience with AWS (EC2 S3 RDS/DynamoDB Lambda ECS/EKS IAM CloudWatch)

Experience developing REST APIs and working with JSON/XML payloads

Strong understanding of object-oriented design design patterns and clean code principles

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling (Jenkins GitHub/GitLab etc.)

Experience working in Agile environments

Ability to work onsite in NYC 5 days per week

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

Experience in financial services consumer banking credit cards or lending platforms

Exposure to Kafka or event-driven architectures

Experience with containerization (Docker Kubernetes/EKS)

Knowledge of security compliance and risk controls in regulated environments

Prior experience working at JPMorgan Chase or other Tier-1 banks
