Position Description
This multimedia outreach internship supports San Antonio Missions National Historical Park in expanding its connection with local communities and students. Working alongside the parks Visual Information Specialist and Interpretation & Education team the intern will create engaging educational media and programs to help orient students and educators before their park visits. These products will highlight themes of culture heritage survival innovation and stewardship using multimedia tools to reach diverse learners and enhance field trip experiences.
The intern will use historic primary sources to inform content and will contribute to both on-site and off-site programming as addition to multimedia production the intern will gain experience in front-line interpretation by staffing the Visitor Center and conducting roving interpretation at Mission San José. One major deliverable will be a kid-friendly multimedia educational resource designed for local 4th-grade students learning about mission history.
This position provides hands-on training in interpretation media creation education and public engagement all in support of engaging the next generation of park stewards.

Public Land Corps Non-Competitive Hiring Authority (PLC)
The Public Land Corps Non-Competitive Hiring Authority is a special hiring authority available to qualifying interns. The intern must be between the ages of 18 and 30 years old inclusive or a veteran up to age 35 and complete 640 hours of work on an appropriate conservation project to be eligible for this hiring authority. Upon successful completion of the PLC project(s) the intern is eligible for two years to be hired non-competitively into a federal seasonal term or permanent position. The applicant must apply to a PLC-eligible position advertised on and selected off a non-competitive certificate of eligibility. For more information see DOI Personnel Bulletinsand 17-03.
