Full Time/Part Time: Part Time: 50% Full-Time Equivalent (FTE); 20 hours per week

Temporary/Permanent: Temporary

Other Conditions: This position is created specifically to support the Kahoiwai:Reclaiming Hawaiian Knowledge Sovereignty project. Tobegin approximately February 2026 pending position clearance and/or availability of funding. The position is located at the University of Hawaiiat Manoa and is renewable annually for the duration of the grantcontingent upon availability of funds program/operational needs satisfactory performance and good academic standing.

This is an 11-month position which means the position is on duty throughout the year except during periods of authorized leave.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Enrolled full-time at the University ofHawaii atManoa in a graduate degree program at the time of hire and throughout the appointment period be in good academic standing and maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 or above.
  2. Pursuing a graduate degree in Library & Information Science Education Sociology History Ethnic Studies Hawaiian Studies or related field.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of Hawaiian history and culture.
  4. Strong interest in learning or honing research and analytical skills including research evaluation survey and protocol design.
  5. Strong organizational writing and communication skills.
  6. Keen attention to detail and ability to synthesize information.
  7. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty staff and students.
  8. Demonstrated experience in Word Excel PowerPoint (or comparable) software.
  9. Demonstrated ability to both independently and collaboratively

Desired Qualifications

  1. Completed LIS 652 Introduction to Archival Management or demonstrated knowledge of archival principles.
  2. Prior work experience on an University of Hawaii campus.
