Position Description
The Digital Archives Technician will work under the mentorship of the Museum Curator and Historical Landscape Architect at San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. This internship focuses on processing arranging and describing park records and archival collections to support management preservation decisions and public access.
The intern will organize digital records within an existing file plan appraise records for archival retention and support park-wide data management initiatives. They will also develop a Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) document that establishes consistent guidelines for processing and managing future digital project files.
This position provides hands-on professional experience in archival management digital preservation database management and digital documentation workflows. The intern will collaborate with members of the Integrated Resources Team and gain exposure to how cultural resources are managed at the park level. Due to the parks urban setting the intern will also have opportunities to network with museum and preservation professionals in the surrounding community.

The Public Land Corps Non-Competitive Hiring Authority is a special hiring authority available to qualifying interns. The intern must be between the ages of 18 and 30 years old inclusive or a veteran up to age 35 and complete 640 hours of work on an appropriate conservation project to be eligible for this hiring authority. Upon successful completion of the PLC project(s) the intern is eligible for two years to be hired non-competitively into a federal seasonal term or permanent position.
