About ISEM at HU:
Harrisburg University is actively seeking a part time adjunct faculty member with strong teaching skills for the Information Systems Engineering and Management (ISEM) Masters Program. The ISEM Program cuts across three active areas of work: Information Systems Systems Engineering and Management.
To accommodate teaching needs in both its Masters and PhD programs ISEM is currently seeking one or more faculty members with expertise in research design and methodologies.
Position Summary:
The ideal candidate is exceptionally qualified in the research process and quantitative and qualitative research methods. The candidate will be required to teach research design and methodology courses to Masters and PhD level students. This involves teaching students how to craft a research problem perform a literature review then plan schedule and then successfully execute a research project using classic research methods.
Specific areas of interest are as follows:
- Research Proposal development (GRAD 695). This is the first of the two-course Masters students Capstone experience. The focus in this course is conduct of a literature review definition of a research problem and development of a plan for execution of a successful research project using classic research methods.
- Masters Thesis development (ISEM 699 GRAD 699). This is the second of the two-course Masters Capstone this course students execute their GRAD 695 Research Proposal and generate their final Masters Thesis.
- Research Methods (GRAD 509). This is a required course for incoming ISEM PhD students that prepares the students for PhD level research.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Commitment to working with diverse student populations at Masters and PhD academic levels
- Commitment to equity in education at Masters and PhD levels
- Commitment to delivery of quality education in accordance with defined HU ISEM and specific course requirements
- Ability to periodically travel to the Harrisburg University Campus at 326 Market Street Harrisburg PA 17101 three Saturdays in a 15-week semester to deliver course material face-to-face to students.
Qualifications:
Interested candidatesshould have:
- Earned Ph.D. or equivalent is preferred. Minimum of Masters degree is required in an Engineering or Management discipline.
- Demonstrated teaching experience in Research Methods and Thesis development at the graduate and / or doctoral levels.
- Preferred experience with research that generates scholarly outputs including conference presentations refereed journal publications and other scholarly works.
- Willingness and aptitude for teaching and utilizing technology in the classroom.
- Experience working with mentoring and advising students.
- Current or prior corporate / industry experience is valued.
In addition to the required qualifications above ideal candidates should have experience with learning management systems (LMS) and online teaching platforms. The required HU LMS technology is Canvas and MS Teams.
