The Senior Manager Governance Regulatory Obligations Management plays a critical role in advancing the effectiveness and maturity of Scotiabanks Global Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) Program. This role ensures that regulatory obligations across all jurisdictions are accurately maintained and consistently embedded into TPRM practices the Senior Manager enables the Bank to anticipate and respond to evolving regulatory expectations

Is this role right for you In this role you will:

  • Be accountable for TPRM regulatory compliance including management of the TPRM Regulatory Library and encompassing jurisdiction specific regulatory obligations and key controls across Scotiabanks operating regions.
  • Serve as a liaison with management and executive committees for inclusion and oversight of TPRM risk updates
  • Lead the oversight of TPRM management/executive committee(s) including strategic support and review of existing regional TPRM committees.
  • Support strategic projects and initiatives for Third Party Risk Management as requested by the VP and/or Director & Head Governance and Optimization.
  • Monitor assess and interpret new regulatory changes and industry standards that may impact the TPRM program
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on TPRM applicable legislation and act as the primary point of contact with Compliance on regulatory inquiries and/or investigations (e.g. OSFI) Support the development and maintenance of TPRM Framework Policies and Standards to seek adherence to those requirements.
  • Conduct regulatory impact assessments and develop action plans and compliance roadmaps for timely implementation of new requirements.
  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships systems and knowledge.
  • Understand how the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas while ensuring the adequacy adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk regulatory compliance risk AML/ATF risk and conduct risk including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed Wed love to work with you if you have experience with:

  • 10 years proven governance and/or risk management experience in Financial Services industry
  • Undergraduate degree in Business Economics Finance Law; MBA CRM certification or other Graduate Program in related discipline would be an asset.
  • Advanced understanding of the regulatory landscape with respect to third party risk.
  • Experience in leading dynamic and multifaceted projects.
  • Strategic thinking and strategic influencing skills.
  • Knowledgeable on regulation regarding operational risk comfortable driving conclusions/insights from numerical indicators
  • Sound judgment learning agility and a high level of professional and personal integrity
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively communicate with senior/executive management.
