Responsibilities

What you will be doing

  • You will provide technical assistance for projects led by the Research Scientists. This involves assisting with day-to-day operations of a project to meet the research objectives and commitments with collaborating partners and funding agencies.
  • On a daily basis you may be working on one or more research projects. This position may conduct fieldwork in support of data acquisition missions which may require both indoor and outside working environments.
  • Innovative and committed to life-long learning the Research Associate is a creative self-starter with a commitment to research excellence.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • A diploma advanced diploma or degree in a related field or discipline specific to the specific to the nature of the research. (cartography and geovisualization geomatics or related field).
  • You have a minimum of two years (full time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in a research environment which includes fieldwork.
  • Previous experience designing crop suitability maps analyzing multispectral and hyperspectral data and taking and altering images as well as designing map and visualization projects for both print and digital platforms.
  • Previous experience collecting temperature and humidity data and modelling that based on geospatial location over time.
  • Occupational experience that includes crop management crop sampling soil sampling and nutrient analysis as well as running pot to plot level field experiments.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro QGIS Adobe Creative Suite HTML/CSS Python SQL Javascript Powershell excel data analysis and scientific writing
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite E-mail
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work
  • Experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students would be considered an asset.
