Put your skills to work across Honolulus iconic landmarks! The Department of Enterprise Services Building Services Division is seeking two (2) skilledPainters to maintain facilities including the Blaisdell Center Waikiki Shell Honolulu Zoo and municipal golf courses. This full-time position works MondayFriday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and involves travel between city facilities.

What You Will Do:
  • Prepare surfaces for painting: scrape sand wash burn and fill holes or cracks; mix and match paints.
  • Apply paints and coatings: use brush roller or spray on interiors exteriors furniture equipment and concrete; clean tools and equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections: walk and inspect painted surfaces across facilities and equipment.
  • Performs other related duties.
Special Working Conditions:
  • Work at high heights from scaffolding ladders and roofs.
  • Work in proximity to fumes and hazardous materials (e.g. thinners).

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application you must be a citizen national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to competently perform the journey level skills and duties of this position.

Applicable Skills Needed:

  • Knowledge of practices tools materials and equipment used in the painting trade.
  • Knowledge of methods of applying preparing mixing blending and preserving different painting materials.
  • Knowledge of methods of preparing surfaces for the application of paint and other similar coatings.
  • Ability toblend harmonize and contrast colors.
  • Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment used in the painting trade including brushes rollers spray guns/machines striping machines and high pressure water cleaner/washer.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of an appropriate valid Hawaii State drivers license as required.
(The current vacancy requires a valid automobile (Type 3) drivers license prior to appointment.)
