Job Title: Junior Cloud Operations Engineer
Location: Sintra Portugal
Work Regime: Full-time & Hybrid (2x office days)
Overview / Summary:
We are expanding our Cloud Operations team to support a key international client. We are looking for mid-level and junior resources with immediate availability to perform preventive maintenance and operational tasks. The role requires strong English communication skills as the client is not Portuguese. The working schedule is aligned with the clients time zone with standard hours from 07:00 to 16:00 (Portugal time) and an on-call rotation from 16:00 to 07:00 for critical incident handling.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Perform preventive maintenance and operational tasks for cloud environments.
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential issues.
- Manage and resolve incidents including participation in on-call rotations for critical incidents.
- Execute standard operating procedures and follow runbooks.
- Collaborate with the client and internal teams to ensure service availability and performance.
- Provide clear and effective communication in English during support activities and escalations.
- Document work performed and update incident records and knowledge base.
- Assist in capacity planning and service improvement initiatives.
- Support automation and optimization efforts when possible.
Requirements
Preferable Requirements:
- Some level of experience in previous roles
- Experience in Windows Systems Administration or Unix/Linux Systems Administration
- Experience with SQL Database Administration
- Experience with Cloud Network Administration
- Ability to work the client-aligned schedule (07:0016:00 Portugal time) and participate in on-call rotation (16:0007:00)
- English B2 level (fluency needed)
Complementary Requirements:
- Experience with IAS and Virtual Machines (administration maintenance)
- Experience with AD connect and Trademicro
- Experience in multi-cloud environments (Azure AWS or Google Cloud)
- Knowledge of automation tools (PowerShell Python Ansible Terraform)
- ITIL foundation or similar IT service management knowledge
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g. Zabbix Nagios Datadog Prometheus)
