Manager Mineral Planning and Development (64998)

This is a full-time permanent position working 75 hours bi-weekly.

The Mineral Resources Branch of the Department of Energy Mines and Resources is responsible for the development of a sustainable mining industry in the Yukon. The team develops and delivers policies strategies programs and legislative instruments to support integrated resource management.

As a member of the Mineral Resources senior management team this position is responsible for managing a strongly motivated group and directing planning coordinating implementing and evaluating a variety of strategic and operational mineral resource initiatives. These initiatives include ministerial and senior management information support non-government organization (NGO) funding support regulatory and First Nation consultation policy development geographic information services (GIS) support to the Branch and provision of information to support mining industry investment and development. Strong leadership team building strategic thinking creative problem solving skills and a desire to achieve results are essential to be successful in this key position.

Essential Qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications. Please note selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

• Degree in Public Administration Social Sciences Earth Sciences Environmental Sciences Resource Management Business Administration or a related field;
• Experience developing delivering and evaluating programs strategies policies and services;
• Experience developing and administering financial agreements and managing financial supports for non-government organizations;
• Experience providing strategic guidance on consultation obligations and considerations for natural resource projects in Yukon;
• Experience building partnerships within and outside your organization including the development of successful partnerships with First Nations communities non-government organizations and other government departments;
• Experience supervising coaching team building and mentoring.

Candidates who have education training and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.
