Lead site-level financial operations for a growing mining and industrial organization
A mining and metals organization operating in New York is seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting financial reporting and planning activities at an active mine site. This role partners closely with site leadership and corporate stakeholders to ensure strong financial controls accurate reporting and data-driven decision-making in a regulated capital-intensive environment.

Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Finance Procurement & IT the Controller will oversee all site-level accounting and financial operations. This role blends hands-on accounting leadership with strategic FP&A audit readiness capital project tracking and systems improvement. The ideal candidate brings strong industrial or manufacturing experience and is comfortable operating in a dynamic operational setting.
Key Responsibilities
Lead site-level accounting and financial reporting functions
Provide oversight of general accounting cost accounting and budget controls
Own FP&A activities including budgeting forecasting and variance analysis (P&L balance sheet cash flow headcount and expenses)
Ensure timely month-end quarter-end and year-end close processes
Oversee inventory controls including cycle counting and accuracy
Track capital project spending and manage fixed asset capitalization
Prepare financial statements compliance reports and regulatory filings
Support internal and external audits and implement corrective actions
Analyze actual results against budget and forecast; provide insights to leadership
Prepare ad hoc financial reports for site and corporate stakeholders
Ensure compliance with corporate policies and site-level procedures
Lead continuous improvement initiatives across operating departments
Partner with site managers and corporate finance to identify risks and opportunities
Support implementation and optimization of financial systems and ERPs
Maintain confidentiality and data integrity across all financial processes
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in a financial leadership role
Experience in a public company environment strongly preferred
Advanced proficiency in Excel
Strong experience with QuickBooks
Experience with FP&A budgeting and forecasting
Experience in construction project accounting or capital-intensive operations
Experience implementing or optimizing ERP systems in mining industrial or manufacturing environments
Strong understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance
Knowledge of tax and transfer pricing considerations
Working knowledge of IFRS accounting standards
Authorization to work in the United States
Preferred Experience & Skills
CPA designation (preferred)
Experience with agile or lean operational practices
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Teams and OneNote
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a site-based operating environment
