About the Role
This role forms part of the Permit Wise function and plays a critical role in ensuring BBGs national pre-construction activities are delivered accurately efficiently and in line with all building planning and regulatory requirements. The successful applicant will work closely with Construction Estimating Legal/Compliance and Finance teams as well as Certifiers Councils Engineering consultants and other regulatory bodies.
This position requires pre-construction compliance and regulatory approval experience including familiarity with building permits planning processes engineering documentation DBI/HOW/BWI requirements and associated compliance risks. This is a compliance-driven approvals-focused position with a remit that is distinctly different from BBGs claims administration and customer coordination roles.
About the Role
The Compliance Officer is responsible for processing and coordinating a broad range of pre-construction approvals including:
Building Permits
Planning Permits
DBI/HOW/BWI (warranty insurance)
Asset Protection
Engineering approvals
Interim reporting line:
This position will report directly to the Executive Director Corporate Services during the transition period as we uplift national permit and compliance processes.
Key responsibilities include
Knowledge and Experience
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
High level of organisation accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work autonomously and exercise sound judgement
Experience in residential building insurance building or pre-construction administration
Understanding of DBI/HOW/BWI building codes and compliance obligations (or willingness to learn)
Competency in Microsoft Office and workflow systems
Familiarity with permit workflows and building/compliance risks
Additional capability requirements:
KPI-focused mindset with the ability to meet fast turnaround expectations
Proactive follow-up with external contractors and consultants to minimise delays
Ability to work under pressure managing multiple deadlines and workflow peaks
Strong resilience and accuracy in a time-sensitive compliance-driven environment
Auditing capability to support uplift of pre-construction compliance
