Position Overview

Youre someone who sees potential and knows how to bring the right people together. You understand the needs of the teams you support and have a knack for identifying candidates with the skills mindset and energy to thrive. In this position youll collaborate closely with employees and hiring managers to develop strategic recruitment plans and build strong trust-based relationships. You ensure consistency and compliance within our unionized recruitment processes while your creativity and attention to detail shine as you engage the job market with innovative sourcing methods and elevate our employer brand grounded in values like sustainability respect and inclusion.

You thrive in fast-paced environments and your time management skills ensure recruitment processes run smoothly efficiently and with exceptional service every step of the way.

In this role you will:

  • Build strong partnerships with designated business areas to support both unionized and exempt recruitment needs.
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for internal and external roles from understanding hiring requirements and sourcing strategies to shortlisting candidates conducting evaluations negotiating offers and supporting relocation needs.
  • Identify talent needs and execute hiring practices that align with business goals and culture.
  • Coordinate and advertise job postings keeping business partners informed and engaged throughout the process.
  • Attract top talent using a variety of tools and channels including job fairs social media and industry events.
  • Develop and manage pre-screening processes selection criteria testing and assessments all in alignment with company policies collective agreements and applicable legislation.
  • Facilitate interviews in collaboration with hiring managers and stakeholders ensuring a smooth and professional candidate experience.

What it takes:

  • A diploma or degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of employment legislation and recruitment practices within unionized environments.
  • Proven experience interpreting and applying collective agreement provisions particularly those related to job postings and selection processes.
  • Hands-on experience with recruitment technology including Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and LinkedIn. Bonus points if youre familiar with SuccessFactors Recruiting.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and comfort working with HRIS platforms.
  • A serviceoriented approach with a genuine passion for talent acquisition that blends creativity attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a dynamic fastpaced environment.
  • A collaborative team player who builds strong relationships and works effectively across departments to achieve shared goals.

Additional Information

This position may require periodic travel to additional FortisBC sites as well as attendance at external events.

In this role you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week) subject to business or operational needs.
