Wirral Behaviour Change Team Leader x 2

About the Role:

Wirral Borough Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Behaviour Change Team Leader to lead the Councils waste education engagement and behaviour change programmes.

This is a key leadership role within Environmental Services responsible for driving improvements in recycling participation reducing contamination and supporting waste minimisation across the borough. You will lead a team of Behaviour Change Officers work closely with operational managers and partners and play a central role in delivering the Councils Climate and Waste Management Strategies.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Behaviour Change Engagement Team ensuring high standards of performance quality assurance and staff support
  • Develop and deliver targeted waste education engagement and soft enforcement programmes to improve recycling behaviours and reduce contamination
  • Support the introduction and delivery of recycling initiatives and awarenessraising campaigns including circular economy principles
  • Work alongside operational managers to improve the monitoring recording and analysis of contamination and presentation data
  • Oversee load sampling activity and challenge contamination results where appropriate
  • Provide advice and solutions directly to residents and households where waste issues are identified
  • Lead engagement with schools community groups registered social landlords and partner organisations
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders including the Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority
  • Support the preparation of funding bids for wasterelated projects and initiatives
  • Analyse service data citizen feedback and performance information to inform decisionmaking and service improvement
  • Respond to customer enquiries and complaints and provide reasoned advice to elected members and stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with waste enforcement policies health and safety requirements and corporate governance procedures

About the candidate:

You will be a confident leader with strong communication and engagement skills able to influence behaviour change and manage complex stakeholder relationships. You will bring:

  • Experience working within waste management recycling or environmental services
  • Proven experience of supervising or leading staff in a service delivery environment
  • Strong organisational planning and problemsolving skills
  • The ability to analyse data and use insight to drive service improvements
  • Excellent customer service skills with the resilience to manage challenging or sensitive situations
  • Welldeveloped negotiation and relationshipbuilding skills
  • Strong IT skills including Excel reporting systems and waste management software

Qualifications and experience

  • Educated to ILM Level 3 or equivalent
  • Experience applying waste recycling and street cleansing legislation and policies
  • Experience of waste collection recycling or street cleansing services is desirable
