About the Role
Drug Health Services (DHS) aims to reduce the harms associated with substance use for individuals families and communities and to prevent drug misuse. Our Mission is to deliver evidence based and patient centred care in collaboration with other health and non-health partners to improve the health outcomes of individuals their families and broader community. Services are provided at Canterbury Concord Repatriation General and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals and at Canterbury Marrickville and Redfern Health Centres. Selected programs offer services in community and via approved outreach arrangements.
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) provides expert clinical advice to patients carers and other health care professionals within a defined specialty through the delivery of specialist consultant service which:
- Develops implements and evaluates care management plans for patients with complex health needs.
- Provides leadership in the ongoing development of clinical practice.
- Initiates and utilises findings of research in the provision of clinical services.
- Contributes to the development and delivery of specialty related education programs.
- Participates in formal processes for the strategic and operational planning for the clinical service.

Ideal Candidate
- Current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) and 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field.
- Holds approved postgraduate qualifications relevant to the specialty or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate.
- Extensive understanding of speciality disorders and their current management.
- Proven ability to consult review and develop both new and existing policies and procedures within the relevant speciality.
