WHAT YOU WILL DO
Job Summary
The Director of Alumni Board Engagement serves as the primary point of contact between the college or school administration and its engagement and fundraising board ensuring smooth communication effective governance and the alignment of strategic goals. This role provides comprehensive strategic management and support to board members assists with board-related planning recruitment and fosters positive relationships among senior leadership deans board members alumni and students. This position will coordinate meetings prepare reports and contribute to the development of policies and initiatives that advance the institutions mission and goals.
Job Duties
Board Strategy and Coordination:
Act as the primary liaison between the college/school leadership the Alumni Association and the engagement and fundraising boards (multiple college boards).
Coordinate and facilitate board meetings including scheduling preparing agendas distributing materials and ensuring timely follow-up on action addition to using and maintaining information on OnBoard the board management platform.
Play a crucial role in the recruitment and onboarding of new board members. Assist in the portfolio management recruitment and onboarding of new board members including orientation and ongoing support to ensure the smooth transition and integration of new members into the board
Strategic Planning and Initiatives:
Collaborate with senior leadership to align institutional goals with board priorities.
Assist in the strategic planning process and play a key role in monitoring the progress of institutional initiatives to ensure alignment with board expectations.
Communication and Reporting:
As the Director of Alumni Board Engagement a significant part of the role involves maintaining open and transparent communication with board members. Which includes keeping them informed about institutional developments policies and initiatives ensuring they are well-equipped to fulfill their functions.
Prepare and distribute accurate and comprehensive reports presentations and materials for board meetings.
Serve as a channel for communication between the administration and the board ensuring transparency and clarity in interactions.
Draft correspondence briefing materials and updates to keep the board informed on key institutional matters.
Maintain communication with board members regarding institutional developments policies and initiatives.
Provide administrative support to board committees ensuring comprehensive clear and timely communication and the successful execution of committee objectives.
Governance and Policy Development:
Support the board in its oversight functions including advising on institutional policies strategies and procedures.
Assist in the development review and implementation of institutional policies in collaboration with senior leadership.
Philanthropy:
Research and communicate confidential documents regarding prospective donors and major gift donors. Schedule and prepare documents for meetings with current and prospective donors.
Communicate with deans and directors of development regarding fundraising efforts.
Manage an engagement portfolio to cultivate relationships that lead to philanthropic support and meaningful involvement.
Other Duties:
Maintain and update board member contact information documentation and institutional records related to board activities and meetings.
Assist with special projects or other duties as needed to support the Boards governance functions.
Support the AVP by providing reports budgets and expenses and by performing other duties as assigned.
Enter maintain and track information on spreadsheets and databases.
Individuals will also be required to work some nights and weekends when necessary and to travel (by plane train or car) at least 15% of the time within and outside the state of Georgia.
Minimum Hiring Standards:
Bachelors degree in a related field and six years of experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
