Job Summary

  • Part time (0.5FTE) 3 year fixed-term role based in Launceston

About the opportunity

The appointee in this position will work as part of the Launceston Clinical School (LCS) Academic team to support research activities at the LCS and within the Tasmanian Health Service (THS) North and Northwest. The appointee will have a specific focus and responsibility to support medical students undertaking MD projects and their supervisors LGH clinical staff undertaking research activities and researchers who have received Clifford Craig Foundation grants.

What youll do:

  • Support research activities through research design and project creation data collection & analysis reviewing publication drafts.
  • Develop and deliver education sessions to support clinician and student researchers.
  • Provide a strong link between the University and THS Hospitals by developing aligned collaborative research activity and interests.
  • Critically review grant applications and provide informed feedback to Research Committee members.
  • Where suitable supervise HDR candidates.

What were looking for:

  • Demonstrated expertise or qualification in statistics and quantitative research methodologies.
  • Strong record of published research relevant to clinical medicine especially those using quantitative research methodologies.
  • Experience and demonstrated achievement in University-level teaching and learning.
  • A record of contributing effectively to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally.
  • Sound understanding of the local research environment research ethics and governance processes and relevant resources.
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) currency.

For appointment to Academic Level C candidates will also be required to demonstrate:

  • A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field and expertise and experience in statistics and quantitative research.
  • Outstanding record of research that has achieved national and/or international recognition.
  • A record of excellent contributions to successful research higher degree supervision and completions.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B or C and will have a total remuneration package of up to $184076 comprising base salary within the range of $114766 to $157330 plus 17% superannuation.
