Job Summary

Minimum Requirements:

  • Level 2: High School diploma or equivalent and at least 8 years direct professional experience or bachelors degree and 2 years direct professional experience.
  • Level 3: High School diploma or equivalent and at least 11 years direct professional experience or bachelors degree and 5 years direct professional experience.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy L clearance which requires US Citizenship.

Preferred Experience:

  • Nuclear planning experience.
  • Navy Nuclear or Commercial Nuclear Maintenance /Operations.
  • Maintenance (Electrical Mechanical Instrumentation and Control HVAC Heavy Equipment).

Job Information:

  • The pay range for this position is: Level 2 ($66504 - $136353) / Level 3 ($79344 - $162732). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education relevant experience and other credentials.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this classification the employee is frequently required to stand walk sit stoop kneel bend and work in an office and field/laboratory environment. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type handle materials manipulate tools and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with the public is required. Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Nuclear Facility Planner to work on our Reactor Maintenance team. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials & Fuels Complex (MFC) desert site facility with every Friday off.

You will Evaluate maintenance work requests and develop a maintenance work plan which includes requirements for materials labor safety considerations environmental compliance special work permits outages etc. Involves the sequential planning of tasks to be performed by others; specification and acquisition of necessary labor tools materials and equipment to accomplish the tasks; scheduling monitoring expediting and reporting on progress of tasks. Obtain job materials and tools/equipment and coordinates support crafts operations technical support etc. to provide for smooth execution of maintenance work. Manage the incoming maintenance work request and turns into work orders. Appropriately categorizes requests creates low risk simple activity expedited and planned work orders and mitigates hazards.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Write work instructions (fitter mechanical electrical instrumentation and control etc.) for assigned Nuclear Facility equipment that provides safe workable and complete instructions for skilled maintenance craftsmen utilizing the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Ensure written instructions comply with established INL controlling documents for the work control process with Quality Training Environmental Industrial Hygiene Radiological Safety and Health and other applicable regulatory agencies requirements. Ensure that work instructions are clear and concisely written to be performed by the craftsmen.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for resolving issues for each assigned WO from initiation to completion.
  • Take responsibility of the work order (WO) development documentation and content based upon work control procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate worker involvement feedback and continuous improvement are part of the work control process. Plan develop resolve comments obtain approvals resolve issues for scheduling and make WO changes to WOs using company documents and accepted industry practices.
  • Select and apply engineering techniques to solve complex scope of work issues and lead/participate in planning teams during the work order planning process.
  • Ensure the proper composition of planning teams.
  • Evaluate the WO hazard control sets and detailed work instructions for completeness and accuracy with respect to practical field application by performing jobsite walk downs.
  • Procure and stage the materials with assistance from the material coordinators. Plan develop resolve comments obtain approvals issue for scheduling and make WO changes to WOs using company documents and accepted industry practices.
