Join our team as a Director Correspondence Officer and provide exceptional support to the Director of Highways and Transport.

As the Director Correspondence Officer youll have a key role at the heart of a highprofile service area ensuring the Director can effectively deliver the County Councils statutory responsibilities under the Highways Act 1980 and the Traffic Management Act 2004. You will take ownership of highlevel correspondence on behalf of the Director managing sensitive complex and often timecritical issues. Working confidently with senior leaders elected members partners and members of the public you will ensure all communication is accurate timely and aligned with the strategic priorities of the service.


This is a fastpaced environment where no two days are the same. You will need excellent judgement strong written communication skills and the ability to navigate complex information with discretion and professionalism.


More about the role

  • Youll act as a first point of contact dealing with highways correspondence for the Director and at times related telephone calls.
  • Youll draft routine and complex correspondence to a high standard ensuring complete record keeping on the relevant systems when required.
  • Youll develop an understand the Directors business hierarchy of contacts local protocols and priorities.

  • Communication skills - Youll be interacting with internal and external customers and senior stakeholders who you will need to build effective working relationships with.
  • Organisation skills - Youll need to have great attention to detail and the ability to work with a high volume of queries to achieve our objectives
  • Problem Solving Skills - Youll use your initiative to solve problems and take steps to prevent issues from arising
