ENTRY-LEVEL OPPORTUNITY FOR ENGINEERING GRADUATES AND STUDENTS!

The Department of Environmental Services (ENV) Wastewater Engineering and Construction Division is seeking to fill aCivil Engineer Iposition in Honolulu. This is the entry-level class in the professional Civil Engineer series.

What You Will Do
  • Perform routine professional engineering work in the design construction maintenance and operation of civil engineering projects.
  • Assist in preparing designs plans specifications estimates and reports.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Special Work Conditions
  • Occasional exposure to construction and traffic hazards sewage gases sewer treatment chemicals paint fumes noise electrical hazards and moving equipment.
  • Some physical dexterity required to occasionally perform field investigations which include: climbing ladders descending into trenches tanks and manholes; crawling thru pipes; carrying sampling measuring and testing equipment; and walking on uneven surfaces.
  • Regular hours anticipated but may require evening night weekend and holiday work to accommodate unusual problems or workloads.

  • The expectation for any Civil Engineer I is to learn and progress upward to higher levels.
  • Opportunity to progress up the career ladder and/or qualify for other higher-level positions will depend onsatisfactory work experience and demonstration of applicable knowledge and skills.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application you must be a citizen national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university with a bachelors degree in an engineering specialty.


Students who will graduate in the current semester with a Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering may apply.
