We are hiring in San Diego for a Project Manager II and it will be a hybrid position. The Project Manager (PM) leads the planning coordination and execution of complex utility regulatory reporting initiatives with a primary focus on SDG&E transmission-related compliance obligations. This role serves as a key contributor and subject-matter resource for regulatory reporting data governance and cross-functional coordination. The PM is expected to independently manage complex workstreams proactively identify risks guide stakeholders through regulatory requirements and contribute to process improvements that enhance accuracy efficiency and compliance across the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently lead complex regulatory reporting initiatives ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements contractual obligations and internal standards.
- Manage the end-to-end coordination validation and submission of transmission project data supporting regulatory filings including AB 970 GO-131 and Transmission Project Reviews.
- Serve as a primary point of contact with utility partners and stakeholders providing clear timely and accurate information.
- Partner closely with the Portfolio & Project Management (PPM) group to support semi-annual and ad hoc data requests and portfolio-level reporting activities.
- Coordinate with Major Projects and Electric System Hardening project managers to ensure timely delivery of accurate and complete project data.
- Develop maintain and improve tools and processes used to track regulatory requirements reporting schedules data requests stakeholders and systems of record.
- Monitor project performance using established metrics proactively identifying risks issues and mitigation strategies.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts by recommending and implementing process enhancements that strengthen regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
- Prepare and present detailed status updates findings and recommendations to management and key stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and informal mentorship to junior project managers or team members as applicable.
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships through clear communication collaboration and accountability.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Construction Management Business Management or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 57 years of project management experience preferably within a utility or PMO.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex cross-functional initiatives with minimal oversight.
- Strong organizational analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency in project-related tools including SAP Microsoft Excel and SharePoint.
- Excellent written verbal and presentation communication skills.
- PMP or other PMI Certification required
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience supporting utility regulatory reporting and compliance activities.
- Familiarity with SDG&E transmission projects regulatory frameworks and reporting processes.
- Masters degree in Business Administration or Project Management.
- Agile or program management certifications.
